June swabs the deck

June did a little week-long day camp in Portsmouth over the summer. The grand finale was a field trip to the Gundalow, an old sailing barge that does tours around the harbor. She was stoked.

We dropped her off and walked away to get sandwiches. We came back to the park and sat on a bench to watch the boat sail past, but it never came. After we finished eating, we walked over and were surprised to see they were still on the dock. (The camp was only a few hours each day.)

As it turned out, June’s age bracket was deemed too young to actually leave the dock. Their consolation prize was to listen to stories about sea monsters and then enjoy an Authentic Maritime Experience swabbing the deck.
