June’s costume selection: green lizard. The hardest part was finding a plain green hoodie and matching pants. Walmart to the rescue.

The spines on the back were multicolored green felt from the craft store. We cut out a symmetrical wavy pattern, sewed it down the middle onto the hoodie, folded it in half, and sewed the two halves together. Same thing on the tail, which was made from an extra pair of cheap pants and attached to a T-shirt:

Both kids got in on the design and construction. Otis is in the background stuffing the pickle costume, June is sketching up some eyes and attaching the feet to some shitty old shoes:
