I got a new camera and I’m learning to shoot RAW

Sorry for the delay!

I’ve been debating buying a new camera for years now. My trusty old Canon350D Rebel still works fine, but I felt like I could get pretty pictures with a newer sensor. So I finally bit the bullet and bought a 200D Rebel SL2. It was love at first snap.

I also decided that it’s time for me to grow up and start shooting in RAW. That, of course, meant that I’d need to learn how to use some kind of RAW editing software. I don’t want to shell out monthly payments for Lightroom (read: I couldn’t find an easy way to pirate it) and I’ve heard good things about darktable (an excellent open source alternative), so I’ve been spending the last couple weeks learning the ropes and reorganizing the ~80,000 pictures in my archive. All of this on top of getting everything ready for the start of the fall semester at work!

Long story short: expect to see some ridiculously oversaturated pictures of the usual characters (flowers, bugs, etc.) for the next few weeks as I learn to control my itchy scroll-wheel finger!
