Dad has recently announced that there’s “No way [he’s] doing the Winter 46.” Good thing. But he does go off into the woods in the cold by himself quite a bit. Be careful, Pops!
Month: January 2013
snowy tuft
other things poking through the snow
Dad thought he could lead us on a bushwhack from one lookout on Cheney Mt. to another. We weren’t successful, but then we didn’t get lost neither. And I spotted some little plants poking up through the snow.
why does ice do this?!
You see this kind of thing this time of year around here. It’s like the ice gets forced up out of the ground as a semi-liquid whereupon freezes into grotesque curls like the fingernails of some Guinness record holder.
don’t shoot, g-men!
Somebody left a bright orange vest on top of the registry box at Cheney Mt. I contemplated swiping it to make little bandannas for our dogs. I get worried about little Brooke especially when deer are in season. (Particularly when I noticed that she bounces through the snow exactly like her ungulate cousins.)
winter hike
While we were visiting for Early Christmas, Dad took Sarah and me on a hike near his house. Cheney Mt. was supposed to have some good views, but the snow kept us from seeing pretty much everything beyond thirty feet. It was fun anyway!
click it or ticket
Larry took Sarah and me to the Cape Ann Brewing Company to sample some of their delicious ales. We ended up bringing home a growler. Sitting in the back seat, I was left in charge of safeguarding the bottle.
snow strobe
One of the first snowstorms of the year. The flakes were falling past this light by a door near my office. The otherwise imperceptible flickering of the light made for some neat patterns. Unfortunately, I didn’t have my real camera.
the chandelier
Blurry and out of focus, like everything else by the end of the night at the Mt. Macco pre-Christmas party.
the sneer
Jeremy kinda reminds me of Guy Pearce’s character from Lawless.
