giant water bug

This photo is from a while ago, but I was reminded of it on a recent trip to Potsdam…

As a friend and I were walking to our respective classes one morning in October 2017, we came across this ENORMOUS INSECT in the vestibule leading out to the Crane plaza. It’s called a “giant water bug” and although its bit is non-toxic, it can be very painful. I got close enough to drop a quarter for scale and snap a photo, then we got the hell out of there!
