Halloween 2025

As is tradition, it’s February and I’m finally posting last year’s Halloween pictures.

This was a pretty mellow year, costume wise. June kept changing her mind until the last minute, which meant we couldn’t do anything particularly elaborate. Otis (said he) didn’t want to trick or treat and didn’t want to make a costume at all.

In the end, June, inspired by our friends who did a family Lord of the Rings theme, went as Galadriel. This required a couple night gowns, some braids, a sparkly pipe cleaner crown, and, of a “silver ewer.” Otis changed his tune about costumes when he saw the inspirational rack of random crap at the thrift store. Sarah went the easy/comfy route, too, with a second hand Godzilla costume:

And Dad went as Arthur, from Hitchhiker’s Guide: bathrobe, plaid PJ pants, a towel, and a “DON’T PANIC” wallpaper on my copy of the guide (i.e., phone).

I was a little disappointed that I didn’t get to sew anything. We’d recently brought Sarah’s grandmother’s sewing machine home and I was excited to use it, but no dice this year.

The best part of Sarah’s costume was that the PBRs she bought to bring to Siggi’s house just so happened to be Godzilla-themed PBRs!

We did the usual decorations, plus a few extra items that June set up with her friend. These included some artfully scattered bones in the front yard, some spider webs on the hydrangeas, and a homemade headstone for well-known historical figure Tony Bargboil:

(Tony was still deciding on pronouns when he/she died at the tragically young age of 7.)
