Grown from a pit in the avocado hatchery Jeremy got us.

This poor plant was quickly decapitated by some local varmint not long after treating it to some fresh air last summer. It has since been replaced by Arthur II, who is growing nicely.

For those that don’t get the reference, Arthur was a recurring doodle in Mad Magazine for many years. Here he is on the cover of #320:

This was kind of a weird front cover since fold-ins were usually reserved for the back cover. I had this issue when I was a kid and was delighted by the bonus fold-in! Here’s the folded version:
