There’s a standing wave on the Black River in Watertown, NY. It’s surfable. I’ve been twice and managed to get to my feet both times. Only for a couple seconds though.
It’s the strangest sensation to have all this water rushing past you, just like on a real wave, but to also be able to look down and see that the bottom isn’t moving at all.
There’s a pub right next to the wave with a deck. I felt like people were watching me as they ate their lunch. But every time I looked up, they didn’t seem to be paying me any attention.
