The waves I had seen were awesome! The kind of waves that, had I not had to drop a friend off at the airport, I would have gotten back in the car and driven the 2.5 hour loop back to Berkeley to grab a board. Perfect, head-high peaks all along the beach. And unlike Ocean Beach, where a brutal pummeling is delivered as a matter of course, the waves weren’t even breaking a few hundred meters away. You could plop right in the ocean, drift down the coast, and find yourself right in a perfect lineup without even getting your hair wet!
‘Course it’s sharky as all get out… And subsequent internet research revealed that it’s almost never surfable due to size and winds… But that didn’t stop me from mind-surfing the hell out of every wave I saw!
