blurry sunset across Puffers Pond
We went for a walk with Mom and her herd of small dogs when we were visiting over Christmas. It was pretty late in the afternoon when we started, so the sun was about to set by the time we headed back to the car. (That’s all ice in the foreground. Stay tuned for more.)

Also, does that girl with the red suitcase have a djembe backpack?!
the monument itself!
martyrs
After a raucous New Years Eve with Shemp, I woke up earlier than I would have like on New Years Day. Nobody else was up, so I went for a wander around Fort Greene. There’s a big monument in the park right next to Shempy’s apartment that I’d never seen up close (the Prison Ship Martyrs Monument). I don’t know if the Society of Old Brooklynites had anything to do with the monument other than that they affixed a plaque with their name on it.
the old man on Heart Lake
After our hike (see yesterday’s photo) we thought about taking a shortcut across the frozen lake to get back to the car. We saw a wet spot nearby and decided to just take the trail.

Sarah skips down Mt. Jo
We did a quick hike with Dad recently starting at the Adirondak Loj and going up Mt. Jo. We’d recently bought MICROspikes ™, so scrambling up the numerous icy bends in the trail was no problem. Sarah jetted out ahead every chance she got!
somebody’s been traipsing around our yard
I can tell because they left footprints in the snow.
