Well, I'm certainly not going to buy an "I"!
(Explanation: Whenever you guess a letter or buy a vowel on Wheel of Fortune, Vanna reveals every instance of that letter. Since an "I" is visible, it has clearly already been guessed. It makes one wonder what the last word might be. "IDEOT," perhaps? I'll leave the weird capitalizations in the caption alone...)

Is this actually a stinkbug? That's what my students call it. But I've never smelt anything and there's always at least one of these guys crawling around on my window.

There's a huge green water pipe that runs alongside parts of the Raquette River. Why do they need an artificial river right next to the real thing?

There's a dam in the Raquette River right next to Sugar Island. We've been taking the dogs there for exercise and tick collecting. (They've got Frontline, so the ticks hop off of them and onto us.) There's a giant green water pipe going into a hydroelectric plant at the dam, but first the water is stored in this giant, wood-planked tower.

The Ramada at UB

I gave a talk last week at the University at Buffalo (they're part of SUNY, but, like Cal, don't always admit it). What a great experience! And... they even put me up for a couple of nights at the Ramada right next to campus. Here's the view out my window.
