Last year, our huge lilac bushes produced only a few flowers. I did some reading and it turns out that you need to prune them pretty vigilantly to get flowers every year. It’s complicated too: you have to do it at a certain time of year and you need to know which branches/shoots to trim and which ones to leave. Fortunately, my laziness paid off. This summer both bushes were completely loaded with flowers:
