we have a keyhole

I like to make stupid graphics for my course websites. I’m doing Music Theory II this semester, which is were the students learn about tonicizations and modulations. I wanted to make a big deal about this since every example I’ve shown them so far has been in a single key.

So my punny title slide for the course is supposed to be a reference to how understanding key changes is the key to vast new worlds of musical experience. It’s a vague message with an even more vague image, but here’s what I came up with (click for high res):

The funny part is that I sat down and for ten minutes frustrated myself by thinking, "Why aren’t there any old keyholes in this old house that I could take a picture of?!" Then I sat down for an hour or two and tried to find a good picture of a keyhole I could use online. THEN I remembered the door right behind me.
