I recently had the (dis)pleasure of watching Transformers II: Rise of the Machines while it was still in theaters. I read this (sarcastic?) review
of the movie beforehand and it completely shaped my experience. Having read the review, the film was like nothing I’d ever seen before. It’s like Michael Bay made a five hour movie. Then, when they told him he had to cut three hours he did so by saying “fuck the dialog, fuck the plot, and fuck the character development. Let’s just leave the trailer-esque CGI action.”

I’m not trying to sound pretentious. I really don’t know what to make of the movie. I came out of it with a raging headache, but was actually delighted at having had the new experience of being so relentlessly manipulated in such a new way.
